Violet's Etude

A delightful medley of four well known beginning band method songs: "Hot Cross Buns," "This Old Man," "Wild Horses," and "A Grandfather Clock."  The composer spent ten years teaching beginning band and these are his four favorite tunes.  There are interesting variations and modal chord progressions throughout the piece.  An excellent concert piece where the students can play tunes they already know in a little more challenging arrangement.

Category:  Concert Band,
SKU:  TMPBAND-067
Arranger:  Jorge E. Garcia

Price:  $40.00

Performance Notes:

The piece’s key signatures are well within the comfort zones of the middle school band:  Ab, Bb, F major and A minor.  The introduction of the tune "Wild Horses" (Letter "F") should be played as fast as possible.  There is a tricky flute part four measures before "J" that will require some attention.  Marimba and Xylophone parts should be played on those specific instruments.  If the instruments are not available, those sections should be tacet.  Certain parts are written in octaves to facilitate performance at the director’s discretion.
