New composer

Ryne is a Virginia based trumpeter, composer, and teacher. Ryne spent his childhood listening to the Jazz greats: Louis Armstrong, Duke Ellington, Miles Davis, and Chet Baker. He took up Piano lessons with Jimmy Crawford at age 8 and by age 9, Trumpet lessons with former U.S. Army Blues lead trumpeter, Dave Detwiler. Immersed in music at a young age (thanks to his Father), Ryne developed an extremely enhanced sense of pitch and it has paved way for many opportunities. 


Ryne has performed at a number of venues including Blues Alley, Balliceaux, Dogfish Ale House, Washington Marriott, VCUarts Depot, Cary Street Café, Inova Sunrise Assisted Living, Richmond Coliseum, Ox Hill Baptist Church, and Fairfax Corner. During his senior year of high school, he won 2nd chair in the All-Virginia Jazz Ensemble (AVJE) and also won 2nd chair in the All-Virginia Band/Orchestra event. He is a former member of the National Jazz Workshop All-Star Big Band (2014), the Quintessentials Brass Quintet, and the Northern Virginia Youth Winds (NVYW; 2011-2012). He was also a substitute trumpeter for Syndenstricker United Methodist Church and for the RVA Big Band. Ryne is also an avid National Anthem Performer; he has performed for CYA Baseball, the Annual Asha-Jyothi Charity 5K Run, and for the Anderson Monarchs (Live on ESPN). Composition wise, Ryne specializes in writing Big Band, Chamber Ensemble, Funk, Video Game/Arcade, and Solo music. He is also a member of the International Trumpet Guild (ITG). 


Ryne is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Music (B.M.) in Music Education at Virginia Commonwealth University. He is studying Jazz Composition with acclaimed trombonist and composer Bryan Hooten, Classical Trumpet under United States Army Band Trumpeter Kevin Maloney, and Jazz Trumpet with Yamaha Performing Artist Rex Richardson. Ryne will be adding much need Jazz charts to our company. Welcome Ryne!
